Arcade Fire

Jambase.com reports that Montreal based band, Arcade Fire, will release a film that followed the making of their 2007 studio album, Neon Bible. Footage of their Montreal studio, touring, promotional films and videos are documented in this 70 minute  film. It will also feature some of the short films the band made on the road.

Miroir Noir was directed by a friend of the band, Vincent Morisset. He was the man behind the interactive “Neon Bible” video and the Arcade Fire Web site.

Fans can begin downloading the film from www.Miroir-Noir.com on Dec. 15. A standard DVD and deluxe edition DVD, featuring bonus material, such as performances on Saturday Night Live and Jonathan Ross, will be available in 2009.

Blur 1990

After speculation of the band’s reunion, Blur confirms that they are reuniting. NME.com received exclusive information about Blur’s comeback. Graham Coxon explains the announcement as, “making public what’s been going on a little bit privately. For the benefit of the fans and those interested we can say that something’s on the cards”.

The original lineup Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, will play their first show in six years at Hyde Park in London on July 3, 2009. Albarn promised fans that there are more shows  to come. Although Hyde Park is the only date confirmed, The Sun, a United Kingdom reports rumors of playing at the Glastonbury 2009 music festival.  You can visit Blur’s official site for details and updates on touring information.

NME.com has also posted a video of the band explaining why they decided to reunite.

NME.com reports that Independent label trade body, AIM, called an emergency meeting for tomorrow morning.
“AIM is holding an emergency meeting for all labels affected by the pinnacle administration, which will be attended by corporate insolvency specialists,” said CEO Alison Wenham, according to a company statement.

Wenham concludes, “We will do everything we can to help the labels affected to minimise their exposure and manage all necessary legal and financial matters as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.”

Pavement

Legendary indie rockers, Pavement are offering a lucky fan a shopping spree at IKEA. According to Pitchfork media, Matador Records and imeem are joining forces and choosing a fan to give $500 to spend at IKEA with a member of Pavement. Although there is no word on which member will join the fan on their spending frenzy, winning is quite simple.

Head to imeem’s Pavement Fans group page and upload a photo of your apartment or other humble abode and in the photo’s section, write a caption. In the short caption, you will enter why you deserve to win the IKEA shopping spree. The contest continues through Dec. 6th and a winner will be announced on Dec. 9th.

The contest is a celebration of the bands fourth album, Brighten You Corners, extended version release, according to SPIN.com. The spree is a spin off of the album’s song, “Date With Ikea.” The album will be re-released on Dec. 9.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez

Omar Rodriguez Lopez, of Mars Volta and At The Drive In, released his new solo album, Old Money, online on Monday. Although this is his eighth solo album, it is his first release with Stones Throw Records, according to Spin.com. The 10-track CD and Vinyl versions of the album will be released on Jan. 27.

Jambase said that Rodriguez-Lopez “hinted” the album began as a follow up to the 2006 Mars Volta album, Amputechture, but then he changed his musical direction and Spin Magazine said a statement revealed “the music didn’t mesh with singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s vocals.”

The Arctic Monkeys may finish their new album by the end of November.

According to NME.com, the band finished recording sessions with Josh Homme, frontman of Queens of the Stone Age, at his studio, Joshua Tree.

Matt Helders, Arctic Monkeys’ drummer, told British publication, The Guardian, that they are planning on doing more recording in November and then spend some time rehearsing in December to get ready to go out on the road again.

Helders said that the band started on the album a few weeks ago and plan on recording “two blocks of two weeks.” Helders also told The Guardian, “It’s probably do-able for us to finish it in this next block. But we don’t want to put pressure on by saying, ‘we’ve got to finish it this time’.”

Bloc Party announced a short five day tour in the United States, according to relix.com. The quartet booked the West Coast to support their third album, Intimacy. They are currently touring Latin America and will play five shows in Australia. Below are the five dates they will play in the United States.

Wilco appeared on The Colbert Report this past week and debuted their new song, “Wilco the song,” with inspiration from Joe the Plumber in light of this year’s election. Jeff Tweedy sat down with host, Stephen Colbert and discussed topics ranging from socialism, in the form of free downloads, to Jeff Tweedy not really being a rock and roll name (www.relix.com).

According to relix.com, Jeff Tweedy discussed the band’s connection and support for Sen. Barack Obama. They asked to perform at the inauguration back in 2005 and Obama replied, “Only if Hilary invites us.” They meet Obama in 2005, when he introduced Wilco at Farm Aid.

After the interview, according to spin.com, Wilco debut their song, “Wilco the Song,” which paid tribute to Stephen Colbert and themselves.
